Broadbanding

Broadbanding allows rather broadly written specifications, resulting in considerable latitude in rating a job. That, plus collapsing a number of relatively narrow pay grades into a relatively few broad pay bands; and, shifting the focus from tightly defined and impersonal job descriptions to specialized knowledge, skills and abilities brought by real people to jobs form the basic structure of broadbanding.
