RED EYE

RED EYE, a historical romance with fantasy elements, by British writer H. RIDER HAGGARD, is set in the reign of Edward III. Red Eve depicts the Battle of Crécy and the Black Death, and also features a supernatural personification of Death called Murgh. It was first published in the United States by Doubleday, Page & Co in 1912. The plot follows Hugh de Cressi as he attempts to save his love, Eve Clavering—nicknamed "Red Eve" for her love of red dresses, from a treacherous suitor, Sir Edmund Acour.
