Janet Adler (1941–2023) is the founder of the Discipline of Authentic Movement, a studio practice sourced in the relationship between a mover and a witness. Berlin filmmaker Jens Wazel visited Janet on Galiano Island, B.C., in May 2022. Their collaboration resulted in the film "LIGHT | Five Days with Janet Adler," a homage to the life and legacy of one of the great teachers of our time. This is the story behind the film. It chronicles Jens' three-and-a-half-year journey to meet, collaborate with, and ultimately say goodbye to Janet, who died just after the film was released. A human story of two artists meeting in genuine not knowing and trusting the process—reflecting the principles of witnessing and presence that Janet taught for over fifty years.
