Lucky Me

So as I sit by my pool in the warm November Arizona sun and watch a hummingbird at the bird feeder, I look back on seventy-six years of living, some of which, fortunately, is just a troubled blur, and I think of where it all took me, doing things I would have thought unthinkable, in places I could only have dreamed of, and meeting all the wonderful people who have touched my life. It is almost too much to fathom. I can’t help but say out loud what I’ve felt for a long, long time: Lucky me.
