At any scale that it operates, design synthesizes the claims of competing interests. This premise is examined in the contested, fragile, technological, and below sea level Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta region of California. The contents of this book are the results of a two-and-a-half week analysis exercise done by graduate students at the University of British Columbia.
