Marxism and Judaism

VonNN Salluste

Normalerweise in 3-5 Werktagen gedruckt
Marxism and Judaism by Salluste, originally published in the Revue de Paris in 1928 and later translated into English in 1947, is a polemical essay that attempts to trace ideological and organizational links between Jewish intellectual movements and the development of Marxist theory and revolutionary socialism. Writing under a pseudonym, Salluste presents a controversial thesis that Marxism emerged from what he describes as a “neo-Messianic” current within modern Judaism, which he claims sought to reshape society through secular, collectivist means. The essay argues that Karl Marx, despite his baptism and assimilation, acted as a conduit for this ideological transformation, allegedly influenced by figures such as Baruch Levy and Heinrich Heine. Salluste contends that Marxist movements—including the First and Second Internationals—were shaped by covert networks and revolutionary societies with Jewish origins. He interprets Marx’s writings on the “Jewish Question” as evidence of a deeper ideological alignment, rather than a critique of religion or capitalism alone. * Singerman #720
