Isaac Horton, a young boy in 1700's London, England, is pressed into military service against his will for Her Majesty's Navy during the time immediately preceding the Revolutionary War in America. His capture is paralleled by the destruction of his family's home by fire and his subsequent attempts to escape his captors to locate his mother and younger sister Mary. Isaac must decide whether to continue his search for his family or sail to the colonies to fight against his homeland in America's bid for freedom. Based on the true story of the Horton patriarch known as "Old British", this is an ancestor's imaginative weaving together of fact and fiction in one possible account of his life before the America's.
