I’ve travelled the motorways of this country for 30 years. I've found that the motorway services are extremely expensive and often the food has been cooked for some time and kept on a hot plate or under a hot light. Many fellow travellers that I have spoken to are of the same opinion. It is with this in mind that I decided to compile this list of alternative services that are available just off many exits of all the motorways in the UK. There are places to re-fuel yourselves and your vehicle at far more reasonable prices. Many of these places are literally just off the motorway, some only a couple of hundred metres and some just a couple of kilometres or about ten minutes drive. If you are looking for something more or perhaps require overnight accommodation I have listed restaurants, pubs, lodges, and hotels. I have provided a full address with postcode (Ideal for those with satellite navigation systems) and a telephone number. In many other cases I have also provided full directions to the location.
