AS a former member of the Bath Avon ATC Squadron at Walcot St in the city during 1955/56 before joining the RAF as a Boy Entrant at Cosford Staffs in June 1957 it was appropriate on hearing the announcement on 7 February 2016 that HRH Princess of Cambridge was to become the ATC's first female commandant that the origins of the ATC in 1941 should be made available to those who might find them of interest and for posterity
