Flamboyant airman from the Wild West Sam Cody was the official Royal Aero Clubs No.9 certificated pilot having become a British citizen and has the distinction of being the first Britain to fly an heavier than air machine. He set a record with his biplane for staying in the air for four hours forty-seven minutes on 31 December 1910
