Even though still only in his twenties, solicitor’s outdoor clerk Stuart Farquhar is sick of work, sick of his girlfriend and even more sick of the Metropolitan line. That is until he meets enigmatic Building Society clerk Simon, whose get-rich-quick scheme, although none too subtle, looks to net nearly half a million pounds between them. Well, at least they were meant to share it. Simon’s misunderstanding about the concept of honour amongst thieves suddenly leaves Stuart jobless, penniless and on the run. Receiving word that his ex-partner in crime may have headed for the Glastonbury Festival, Stuart heads west in search of cash. A chance meeting with an alcoholic, wife-murdering puppeteer and pursuit by the cynical DS Jones, a carfull of Kuwaitis and his cheerless ex-girlfriend throws Stuart into the arms of a nice Jewish girl, Ruti, from the better side of Tel Aviv.
