The first issue of EXCITING COMICS was published by Better Publications in April of 1940. The initial line up of characters included crime fighting with the Mask; science fiction with Major Mars, war stories by Sergeant Bill King, western adventures starring Jim Hatfield of the Texas Rangers and a plethora of other dynamic features. EXCITING COMICS would eventually be remembered for the covers by Alex Schomburg and characters like the Black Terror. Here is an opportunity to look behind the curtain of history and experience the beginning of the titanic series that was known as EXCITING COMICS. This book was compiled with the best images currently available. That stated, these comics are eighty years old. The best efforts have been made to make the pages as enjoyable as possible but not every panel is perfect and some allowances for the age of the books need to be considered when judging the overall contents. The scans for issue #6 were from microfiche and very blurry, so A.I. Was used to improve the resolution without changing content. The stories here were created in a less enlightened time and there are some images that may offend modern readers.
