Rudgwick lies on the West Sussex/Surrey boundary. Parsonage Farm was on the east side of the main street, but remained farmland in the hands of Lay Rectors over many centuries, until in about 1900 arrangements began to be made to sell land without the obligations and benefits attached to it, the main sale in 1925, enabling gradual development of houses, large and small, and from 1960 on several large housing estates, not to mention in one area an experimental poultry farm from about 1925 to 1946. This allowed significant changes in the morphology and population of Rudgwick, such that most residents today live on the former Parsonage Farm.
