Ranching, Riding and Flying

Ranching, Riding and Flying is a compilation of stories written by our father, Sam Tidball. Dad spent numerous starry nights in a sheep wagon herding sheep on his parents’ ranch in Western South Dakota. As children we delighted in hearing the stories of an era that seemed fun and magical. Now we realize it was a time filled with challenges that required rugged determination and hard work. Those times shaped his life and, consequently, they shaped ours as well. In his 80’s, he began documenting these stories, often in the wee hours of the night. Over the years, it has been a treat to receive his emails with new stories attached. We are proud to share his stories with the readers and look forward to handing them down to future generations. We offer this compilation as a gift in celebration of his ninetieth birthday with the same love, generosity and kindness he has shown us over the years.
