Sketching For The Mirror

Sketching for the Mirror is a collection of poems in search of a voice, a sound or maybe even a song. Language is a measure on experience that assumes a likeness to what passes for our reality. Poetry explores that reality, catches it from odd angles, searches for symbols to crack the surface and finally descends into what Jung called the collective unconscious. Like a mirror image our reality is reflected back to us in an altered state, and we have reversed or overturned what was ordinary into something harmonious but somehow mysterious. We are always looking for songs in our lives; many times we find them in the voices of others, but sometimes we have to make up our own sounds and create our own songs.
