Horsing Around

Maria was in bed all day long. It was her fourth day feeling under the weather. It was summer so her parents let her be. Besides, they were never really there. That was the good thing about the rural settings, people can just go out, be silly and enjoy the day without having to worry about kidnapping, rape, mugging, and whatever else happens in the cities. Maria went home for the summer as staying in the city was going to be expensive. She was in her first year in college and hadn’t really gotten any real chance to meet new friends. Over the course of her stay she was able to meet her friends who also went home – whoever was available anyway. She revisited her old elementary school and made sure that she passed by the house of her favorite teacher to have some catching up. That was always her first priority.
