Reverse River

Reverse River is a grief-driven autobiographical tragic romance built around one central image, a river flowing against the natural direction of time. The narrator’s life does not simply move forward. It is pulled backward by childhood loss, fractured motherhood, family shame, forbidden love, sisterly trauma, fatherly duty, and a silence that becomes heavier than speech. At the surface, the story is about a young woman, Senorita, and her first love, Shawn. At its deeper level, it is about a person who is forced to choose between two sacred loves, the man who makes her feel alive and the father whose brokenness she cannot abandon. The emotional wound of the story is not that love failed. It is that love had to be sacrificed to keep another heart from dying.
