The Total Master-A Training Compendium for Choirs is a Three Hundred and Ninety-two page book on choral music, spanning Nine-chapters on very relevant and topical issues in music. It is targeted at choirmasters, choral leaders and even the nominal chorister who may not be opportune to have regular music education. This comprehensive book meticulously covers every aspect of choir training relevant to choirmasters and choir directors, providing thorough insights down to the minutest details. The book covers specific areas such as the ideal choirmaster (roles, musical and non-musical qualities of a choirmaster). Other areas covered are the basics of singing and voice production, the choir and an ideal chorister. The chapter, How to Assess Choirs in a Choral Competition sneaks a peek review at adjudication techniques in a choral competition when chosen as a member of panel of Judges. It tries to harmonize the knowledge of members of the Panel of judges whenever they find themselves so saddled. The book also takes an insight into choral conducting and song composition. It proffers solution (choral stage etiquettes) to guide choirs preparing for choral competitions-what to do before, during, and even after the competition. Other chapters are choral conducting, Psychology of choir practice and rehearsal techniques, effective choir management and more. The Total Master is written based on anecdotal experiences garnered from over 30 years as a choir trainer, and will surely be beneficial as a constant reference and training guide to established choir directors, conductors, music scholars, teachers, and nominal members of the choir alike.
