At the Grand Tribunal of 1070 a redcap delivered a plea from the Doge of Venice, offering any price for the salvation of his dying wife. Something granted his wish. The City has blossomed under a Faerie aura for one hundred and fifty years. Venice has become opulent, confusing, and delightful. Demons trade souls in the Square and infest an island in the Lagoon. Crafty faeries have taken over the Merceria, so walking the road between the Square and the Canal might take a minute or a lifetime, if you stray into a shop. Magi from the Order's many factions cluster in a single regio. This bubble of magic shields them from the mystical forces in the Serene Republic while they seek the City's secrets.
