Poem for Innocence

Written for three C flutes, alto, and bass flute. If your flute choir does not have an alto or bass, C flutes can be used to play alto and bass flute parts. This work was commissioned by Flock of Flutes, directed by Monica Williams. The concept of the piece is the idea of the sense of innocence present on the days before major disastrous days in history, i.e., what were we all doing on September 10, 2001 – can anyone remember the day before? The dates listed at the end (2013, 2014, 2015, etc.) refer to an optimistic view that the universe as we know it will continue after the various apocalyptic predictions of an end in 2012.
