Dogs

Dogs is the story of a teenaged boy who, following a painful breakup, unwillingly follows his friends to a festival in an attempt to find happiness again. He hopes that his friends will help him resolve his crippling depression, but instead is forced to face the fact that sometimes the people you love are the ones that hold you back. While dealing with these dawning realizations he finds himself falling in love with the eccentric and mysterious Dee - all the while struggling with disturbingly real dreams and troubling hallucinations. Tortured by his past and terrified by his future, he must discover his own peace in a world of sorrow; his sanity and his life depend on it. Set over the course of a single weekend, this book chronicles his rapid descent into insanity and the discoveries he makes about morality, love and friendship. "Dogs" tackles the issue of teenage mental illness in Britain and explores what has caused this generation of young people to be the unhappiest in the developed world.
