I am a Odawa Indian and am a member of the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians of Michigan. I live in the Upper Pennesula of Michigan which makes me, what outsiders call the residents of said area, "Yooper." Two years ago, I had been sober four years. While meditating, I did a little soul-searching of where I was and where I've been and wondering, could my life have been different if I had not let alcohol control my life? Making the decision to write this narrative of my life wasn't easy. Who wants to let the world know that you are not perfect? In essence, I was trying to relieve that burden of guilt that had accumulated for over half a century. Writing this book has given me purpose; having had a stroke last year only delayed the publishing of this book. My most fervent hope is that it will help you overcome the obstacles in life reading it as much as it has helped me writing it. Miigwich, (Thank you), Naki Yo'win/Allan Kesick
