Dr. Li Yang is currently an Arizona Humanities Council Road Scholar. She is also the recipient of the C.L. Sonnichson Award for best article in The Journal of Arizona History in 2011. Her writings, concerning topics in Chinese history and Chinese-American History, have appeared in The Journal of Arizona History and some major magazines and newspapers in both Taiwan and mainland China. Dr. Yang received her Ph.D. in East Asian Studies from University of Arizona in 2004 and taught at the University of Arizona and Pima Community College. She also held a faculty position at the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University as a researcher and educator. Additionally, Dr. Yang has translated two books: V.K. Wellington Koo and the Emergence of Modern China and Bold Plum,with the Guerrillas in China's War against Japan. She is currently working on a book manuscript, tentatively entitled Chinese Grocers in Tucson.
