Dudley Dix is a yacht designer who is known world-wide for his boat designs that combine beauty with practicality, with designs that help people to attain their dreams of building and sailing their own boats. Many of these designs are detailed in a way that makes them suitable for those with little or no previous boatbuilding experience to successfully construct a boat. He has a broad range of designs to choose from, to equip you to sail on your local lake or to voyage on the oceans of the world. Dudley Dix has also worked with professional boatbuilders in many countries, designing boats to suit their needs and those of their customers. Dudley's designs are grounded on a lifelong involvement in sailing. He has raced dinghies and big boats around the buoys, cruised and raced the notorious waters of the Cape of Storms for decades and raced across the South Atlantic Ocean multiple times. This depth of sailing experience equips him well to design boats that work well at all levels. Dudley Dix also has a background of working on cars, from childhood with his father and later with his own cars. This progressed into rebuilding a classic Lotus that he acquired in 2010. That process, as well as a later rebuild after a highway crash, is shown in a book published in 2025.
