Gretchen Rautman is a chronic migraineure, author, and avid reader. She taught herself to read at an early age, and has been consuming literature ever since. Ruatman finds writing a cathartic release and has tried her hand at many kinds of writing over the years. In school, she was writing skits, plays, and the opening lines of countless stories, as well as the assumed essays and reports. Since school, Rautman has continued to write, seeking an outlet for what she feels and lives with. In 2009, Rautman published the first edition of My Secret, a children's story she had slammed out in a fit of pique years earlier. Later that same year, Rautman participated in and won National Novel Writing Month with the manuscript that would become The Mischief Bathwater, a Young Adult fantasy novel. All proceeds go directly to the Migraine Research Foundation.
