Robert M. Joost has been writing creatively since the mid-1970’s, although he had made little to no effort to have any of his writings published in those early decades. This was mostly because he was heavily involved in assisting lawyers and people in litigation. In fact, he has been involved in the legal processes for more than 50 years, chiefly in Federal criminal law and civil rights matters. From time to time he taught small classes on legal research and procedure. He has worked with lawyers around New England, New York, Kansas City, Missouri and Las Vegas. Besides some State pleadings, he has drafted many pleadings and legal briefs that have been filed in Federal courts across the country, including the U.S. Supreme Court, several courts of appeals for the United States and U.S. District courts. Mr. Joost was involved in a First Amendment civil action in 1986 against the Federal Government over one of his more controversial novels. He subsequently took a hiatus.
