Lisa Bennington-Love, formerly known as Lisa Vicious, is a Detroit-based poet, visual artist, and advocate whose work delves into the raw and often unspoken realities of life. Through her poetry and dark art, she explores themes of religious abuse, addiction, domestic struggles, and the complexities of identity—all drawn from her personal experiences. Lisa is also a passionate supporter of religious deconstruction and a vocal advocate for the homeless. Her creative voice is unapologetically authentic, blending the grit of her GenX upbringing with the clarity of sobriety & atheism. Lisa’s poetic journey mirrors the fantastical yet deeply introspective odyssey of Alice in Alice in Wonderland. Much like Alice, Lisa navigates a world that often feels chaotic and surreal—one filled with societal expectations, personal battles, and shifting realities. As Alice questions the logic and rules of Wonderland, Lisa challenges societal norms and expectations through her art and writing. Both are explorers: Alice ventures into a whimsical dreamscape to uncover truths about herself, while Lisa uses poetry as her portal to confront harsh realities and unveil deeper truths about humanity. As a poet, Lisa embodies the curiosity and courage of Alice—delving into the unknown, questioning authority, and emerging with wisdom that resonates with others. Her work invites readers to step into their own wonderlands of self-discovery, encouraging them to to face their fears and embrace their truths.
