Michael G. Topping was born in the Hollis section of Queens, NY in 1984. He is the 12th of 13 children born to his mother, Joyce E. Holmes. He has 7 sisters and 5 brothers. Michael was raised in Central Islip, Long Island where he graduated from Central Islip High School in 2002. Michael subsequently went on to study Law at Suffolk Community College and, in 2007, was sworn in to the New York City Police Department. As far as writing goes, he started at the age of 7, won his first poetry contest at the age of 13, and has performed his works at various venues, including: The University of Illinois, Dowling College, Nassau Community College, and Suffolk Community College. Michael has competed in many poetry Slams over the years. Michael has developed a unique writing style, wherein he tends to reflect on the detrimental chapters in his life and drawing from those experiences, tells HIS story, from a unique and thoughtful perspective.
