It is my earnest hope that sharing the journey of my wife's years from her diagnosis of C.O.P.D., to all the ups and downs we experienced together with the life-extending double-lung transplant surgery, will give anyone faced with the prospect of an organ transplant a revealing look into the intense process involved and gaining enough insight of what is about to transpire for them and perhaps ease the burden of not knowing what is ahead. Our reward was 13 plus years of happiness-filled times together, sharing with family and friends, until, in February 2011, a few days past our 50th wedding anniversary, she passed away. I was born in Toronto, Canada in January of 1937. I grew up in Toronto and in 1954, I enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy. Upon discharge in April of 1959, I moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. It was there I met my wife Dorothy and we were married in January, 1961. I became a United States Citizen on May 1st, 1969.
