As a naïve twenty-one-year-old, I left Australia hoping to find my true place in the world. I still haven’t found that place, but the journey has been a fair reward. For over thirty years I have lived and worked in Asia – Thailand, Malaysia, South Korea, – my life consumed by English teaching and teacher training. These days I work less and write more. I travel, I explore, I read. I’ve simplified my life, quietened it down. My aim now is to walk lightly on the earth; to live with as few belongings as possible while continuing to discover the world around me.
