Jennifer Engel
Jennifer Engel is a wife, mother and art teacher from Southern California. Her parents were writers and artists, who nurtured her creative interests. In the Engel household, it was not uncommon for the family to sit around the dining room table and read aloud such classics as Edgar Allen Poe’s The Raven or William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. When she was seventeen she began writing poetry, and went on to study poetry writing at Scripps College in Claremont California where she earned a BA in Liberal Arts. A devoted mother and wife, much of Jennifer Engel’s poetry is about her children and husband. Raising an autistic epileptic son, and a bright lively daughter, has provided plenty of material for her to work with. She writes as a woman coping with the day to day life of work and home, making her words especially moving for female readers. Her spiritual side is revealed in poetry inspired by beauty found in nature, nature based religion, mythology, and the tarot.
