Warming, and at the same time chilling, Derby's poems are both vulnerable and potent. In attempts to embrace her own loves, withstand her own losses, confront her own past present & future, she cultivates a much larger audience than she anticipates. Full of insight and untouchable grace, she stumbles upon our own emotions and adds what can only be described as new perspective to a world in which she not only writes, but lives.
