People in my generation tend to spend their money on things that aren’t designed to last. Cell phones, laptops, digital cameras, MP3 players: all of these things are either broken or obsolete a mere few years after they’re purchased. I set out to research and report on what my generation finds irreplaceable; what the next heirlooms will be.
I conducted interviews and photo shoots with 38 of my peers and an object they hold dear. These photographs serve not only as a visual account of members of my generation, but also a case study on what makes an item or product irreplaceable and significant on a personal level.
