This book captures the beauty of the places people have forgotten and abandoned. Every place, every building has its own personality and story that is worth sharing and admiring. By photographing these buildings I preserve them in a way, before they are knocked down to make way for newer and different things.
The photographs tell the stories of the buildings’ past. The layouts are designed to give you a full view of the buildings from various perspectives. My own voice is a reaction to the places as I walked through with my camera. The elegance of the original structure still remains despite their drooping features. The way the doors are rusting and falling, the way the windows have cracked and shattered, the way that nature has begun to reclaim land are all aspects of these locations that make them beautiful. These two sites are located in suburban Pennsylvania, close to where I grew up, but places similar to these are everywhere -- you just have to find them.
