[Translated to English] In this story the writer narrates the part of history, which we call independence. An uncountable number of women were made widows, thousands of children lost their parents and became orphans, many people were killed, and a lot of blood was shed on both sides of the country, India and Pakistan. In this narration the writer tells how innocent people were butchered. She gives the exact profile of the killers. This story is not just a history but an autobiography. It is an eyewitness account of the partition of India in 1947. The writer recounts, Akbar said in his loud voice “Walk quietly otherwise, you would be killed and there would be nobody to give you even a drop water”. Mother was stunned to hear that Akbar, whom she trusted, wanted to marry her son who was disguised as a girl. Akbar said again, “Look lady, I can help you on one condition, that you let me marry your daughter. I promise that nobody would hurt your family.” I congratulate the author for writing her personal experiences during the partition and hopefully the readers will appreciate the open-minded narration of this eyewitness account of the partition.
