Charles George Taylor is a gay man who lives in New York City and writes, not so much a chronicle, but vignettes that somehow give one a clearer view into his life. His posts cover serious issues such as his lover dying of AIDS and his being diagnosed with a mental illness. While serious, with quotes like: “It has been five years since I last popped a Zyprexa or a nurse” you can see how his humor has sustained him through such life events.
His writing is excellent, filled with poignant and prosaic turns of phrase such as this one about a Halloween visit to a gay bath house in Harlem:
The area above is filled with lots of cobwebs which obviously do not capture insects, but rather the moans of men.
If you’re looking for a good read, but don’t have time for Tolstoy, I wholeheartedly suggest that you bookmark Charles George Taylor’s blog and visit it regularly.
