The Bequest

The Bequest is a story about Cathy, who inherits her older sister’s daughter. The child is a stranger to Cathy as her existence has been kept a secret from her. The youngest sister, Tanya, is appalled when she discovers that her niece is being given to a woman whom she thought had been forgotten forever. Tanya threatens to fight Cathy for the child, with plans of denying that she ever knew of her dying sister’s wishes. Cathy must learn to deal with the needs of a small child who just lost her mother. She enlists the help of the two men closest to her. Each hold a different place in Cathy's heart and both try to position themselves for the ultimate prize. She must also garner the courage to stand up not only to Tanya, but her sister’s sinister husband who’s got a secret that may change everything. This is a story about sisterly love, anger and understanding. It’s also about a woman who finds joy in a child she never knew existed and whose love she is determined not to lose.
