In 1990, when on the path to writing a Christmas wish, I found Robert by a woods on a snowy evening. It was there I decided that I, too, had miles to go. Soon there were awards in Carl's Contest, in his railroad town, which added confidence; so, because of the success of my poetic tales I decided to add a poetic tail. In a leap forward, on a stage in Lewistown, the Master's Award; it written in respect for Edgar's Anthology. I was in a State of surprise when in 2011, my "a mercy killing", was recognized with a Gwendolyn Books Award. I competed with seniors in an olympic, which led to the top job at the Peoria Poetry Club. I paused long enough to create some woodsmoke, and to take the mike on Dr. Jim's radio show. I have promoted poetry all along my path, including at OLLI, in my hometown, and at our local library.
I am pleased that this book records reflections of both sunshine and sadness, experienced along my many miles but too I offer it as a pledge to family and friends that I still have miles to go and more promises to keep.
