Life never goes as planned. Our narrator assumed that after college he would have a great job, cool apartment, and fun social life. Instead he is living at home, looking for employment, and struggling to co-exist with his parents. The story takes place in the 1990's. Just substitute the newspaper and land line and CD's for the internet and smart phones and iPods and realize that very little has changed between now and then. The struggle never ends.
