The Deerslayer

1841 The last of the Leatherstocking tales to be written it is a prequel to the series. In the 1740s New York State was starting to be settled and civilization was advancing however there was still enough wilderness for frontiersman. Natty Bumppo is called Deerslayer and is trying to make his way as a frontiersman among a collection of settlers and indians. His adventures include fighting with indians, ransoming other frontiersmen, defending women, and dealing with his own capture by the indians.
