What if we lost our job, our home, or needed to sell our possessions to pay our debts? What would be our next step?
BED deals with this loss of income, possessions and identity while addressing one of the basic requirements of life, shelter.
BED was constructed over the course of 30 days at the Orange County Center for Contemporary Art in Santa Ana, California as discarded objects were located and added to the final piece. During this time sketches were developed designing future possibilities for the final piece. As objects were located in dumpsters, behind buildings and on the street the design was adjusted to accommodate these newly found components. At the end of the 30-day exhibition BED was disassembled and all the found objects were returned to their original locations.
