Human history and current events are replete with culture clashes. Remnants of past conflicts are interwoven in our present lives. From time to time, these remnants re-emerge to claim their day in the sun,or their day in the rain. Timothy Cage's life was hell - a quiet hell, and typical for many of us, of his own making. His "too" normal existence is replaced by a dire need to salvage a way of life - a life that was going nowhere. Consumed with protecting status quo, he is all the more surprised when swamped by unexpected forces, the residuals of past tragedies and the winsome Nikkie. Will change be on his terms, or according to the agenda of others and to the strains of the old-west that lives hidden in the seams of our new-west way of life? The author, raised in southern Oregon, now lives in the rainy, north portion of the state, in Portland and operates under the command of his wife and two English setters.
