Just Another Sparrow

Sally is a parlour maid in London in the late1930s. She is from a poor family and she has been in service since she was 14 years old. Life is hard and often degrading.She dreams of escape and is said to have too many flights of fancy. This is her story. It is about her struggle to achieve her goal and achieving a new life. Through her life, in the poor society of London she was born into,she learns a lot about people, societies and class structure. But as the years roll on, she learns about the new ways in society;with its new modern ideals emmerging through and after WW2. Will she eventually achieve her goal, to be better off in a better world? This work of fiction atempts to portray a glimpse into the emmerging changing world of the 1940s and its affects on society. Adding to it's portrayal, is a romantic story set in troubled times.
