M.G. White's "Portraits at Perks* follows the hilarious exploits of five quirky Minneapolis coffee shop employees as they try, with a variety of outlandish schemes, to close the new corporate Bison Bucks shop on the corner. Rob, a young widower, tries desperately to overcome the death of his wife, keep his shop open, and contend with the crazy lives of his staff and the even more bizarre patrons of his shop. The staff of Perks finds themselves amidst murdered lawn gnomes, violent cheese grater assaults, nude modeling, Korean karaoke, inflated condoms, one seductive Latino housekeeper, Nazis, drag queens, religious fanatics, psychics and a dead skunk as they simply try to keep their jobs and deal with their own personal struggles.
