Stuck as a paper pusher and coffee fetcher at FBI headquarters, rookie Heather Hallman longs for the day when she will be given a chance to shine, doing the “real work” of the agency. When that day comes, however, she is thrown into a quagmire of questionable ethics, distrust, and underhanded politics that threatens to end her career… if not her life.
As she runs from a past that too closely resembles her present struggles, Heather deals with more than she ever thought she was signing up for. With an eclectic mix of mentors and allies, Heather must find her role in the complex inner workings of the Bureau and carve her own path in the field.
