People’s lives are driven mostly by events involving those who love and heal others not by events that spring from those who hate and hurt others. Life is something to be lived and enjoyed, not something to pass through and endure. The story deals with the some of the dark side of life as well, in particular the consequences of child abuse for victims, perpetrators and bystanders and the de-humanizing effect of institutions and the personal alienation they can lead to. These things can be healed but they may have lasting and possibly ineradicable effects.
