This year 2007 is the 60th anniversary of the commencement of compulsory conscription to the armed services in Britain in 1947.
This book tells the story of the No. 1 Middle East Signals Security Troop based on the island of Cyprus during the EOKA insurgency 50 years ago.
The activities of the Signals Security organisation as seen through the eyes (and ears) of a National Service telegraphist who served with the unit and who gives a first hand view of the EOKA movement and of the British forces final success in bringing about the independence of Cyprus in 1960.
Many of the illustrations in this version are in full colour.
