The extended symbolist prose poems of the mysterious Salik appeared in London in 1894, and despite exposure in the literary press at the time, their identity was never revealed.
The strange dream landscapes of the poems, together with their denizens, have been illustrated in this story with etchings by the French symbolist artist Odilon Redon, to make an artist's book out of their joint sympathies. It is hoped that this new edition will bring Salik's poems to a wider audience, and maybe even lead to further research that finally unlocks the poet's identity.
