The first volume of "The Origins of an Assault" opens with the isolation and sporadic wandering out into the night as he composes the madness he believes someday to be a method itself, another writer plans to write a biography on a small town he quickly and dangerously becomes immersed in, an outsider artist finds herself subjected to a brutal assault, leading to an unexpected awakening.
