Informing Form

This primer is a collection of the materials, techniques and methodologies that I utilized during my thesis explorations and in some of my prior works to develop provocation and engagement. My initial hope with my thesis was to create a ‘design revolution,’ as it has been called by my peers and younger students, which might provoke more critically aware students with more aggressive design attitudes. The anti needs to be upped in our education, developing around the idea that education is not technically or vocationally oriented but looks directly at the poetry of architecture and the discovery of what moves and engages the people we design for. The mediums engaged in my thesis were primarily directed at retooling the design studio, though I believe that this connects to all levels of course work. Time will tell if I have made any lasting impact, I hope this primer will function as a guide to students and others who feel as I do and are interested in pursuing that feeling.
